The necessary works to connect the storm drainage on Beechwood West to that on Britten Avenue have been delayed. They will now take place from the 30 July for a period of 4 weeks. The delayed start is unfortunate, but this will mean that the works are now carried out during the quieter school holiday period. During these works a section of Britten Avenue and Peterborough Way will be closed.
Please see the image which shows the diversion route that will be in place throughout the works.

We are delighted to confirm that over this coming week, the first modules will be delivered to the next phase of our regeneration at Beechwood.
Although it is exciting to see the modules arrive on site, it is important to note, that due to the size of the modules, they will need a special police escort from the factory to Beechwood. You will be aware that we have put parking restrictions in place along Churchill Avenue, to allow these deliveries to be made and we would like to thank you for your co-operation in helping us to maintain this as a clear route.
We are working closely with Essex Police to arrange delivery times that will minimise the impact and disruption to local residents, such as avoiding school rush hours and will continue to manage this in the best way we can. We will endeavor to inform you of specific delivery times once these have been confirmed.
If you have any queries please contact Mark Stallard, Development Manager, on 01277 314334 and if you would like to find out more about our new modular homes visit www.nubuild.co.uk
A double win for Swan Housing Association and Partners as their Basildon regenerations triumph at National Housing Awards!
Swan Housing Association and its architects Pollard Thomas Edwards and C.F. Møller were successful at the prestigious National Housing Awards, with judges awarding their plans for both the regeneration of Laindon Shopping Centre and the Craylands Estate in Basildon, with the coveted ‘Best Scheme in Planning’ award.
The Laindon Shopping Centre regeneration won the category overall! This exciting scheme will bring a brand new high street, Swan office, health centre and Swan’s precision engineered modular homes (built in Swan’s new factory in Basildon) to Laindon.
Swan’s Laindon regeneration has also recently been shortlisted in the Architects’ Journal Awards 2017 for ‘Masterplan of the Year’ and, in the summer, won the coveted “Best Reg
eneration” award at the Housing Design Awards 2017.
The NHA 2017 Judges said about Laindon ‘The winning entry was excellent, a great scheme that is both regenerative and visionary and brings residential and commercial uses together to create a new heart for the town.’
Beechwood West, was highly commended in the same category. This latest phase of Swan’s regeneration of the 1960’s Craylands Estate in Basildon (which it is delivering in partnership with Basildon Borough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency) will deliver over 560 mixed tenure, precision engineered homes, built in Swan’s new factory. Over 250 will be fully customisable by the buyer using an online “configurator”, just as you might design a car.
The NHA 2017 judges said they wanted to highly commend Beechwood because it was “a refreshingly different submission, not only with the design of the homes but also the self-build/customisation. It shows outstanding community engagement and the use of innovative construction and local labour is fantastic and deserves recognition.”
Geoff Pearce, Executive Director of Regeneration and Development at Swan said:
“As a long-standing local housing provider with a clear social purpose, we are committed to the regeneration of both the Laindon Centre and the Craylands Estate. To be recognised in the highly prestigious NHA 2017 awards for both these Basildon based regenerations, highlights our commitment to bringing the highest quality of design and public realm to Basildon. We were particularly delighted that the judges recognised our engagement with local people too, as we strive to ensure we work with local people to create the high quality homes and communities that they want and deserve”.
Carl Vann, Partner, Pollard Thomas Edwards commented: ‘We are delighted that both Beechwood West and the Laindon Centre have been recognised by the National Housing Awards. Both projects represent visionary approaches to the delivery of homes within a wider regeneration strategy – combining modular construction, customer choice and house building alongside vital new community facilities.’
Rolf Nielsen MAA ARB RIBA, Associate Partner, C.F. Møller Architects said of the Laindon project: ‘We are very proud to have been part of a great team working on this important project. To have the recognition of the prestigious National Housing Awards is a tremendous honour. We sincerely thank our collaboration partners, PTE and our client Swan, for joining us in creating and realising a strong vision for revitalising this central part of Laindon.’
