The regeneration of Craylands and Fryerns is being developed jointly by Swan Housing Association, the Homes and Community Agency and Basildon Borough Council the site is being developed in four phases requiring the redevelopment of approximately 37 hectares.

The Craylands estate is 25 hectares prior to commencement of development comprised of 963 units: 477 houses, 416 maisonettes, 32 bungalows and 32 flats. The remaining units being local shops, warden’s office and community centre.

Overall the scheme will contain in the region of 1652 units providing around 78% new build residential units subject to future planning and government funding. Phase 1 has been split into two distinct phases; Phase 1 A-B and Phase 1 C-F, Phase 1 A-B now known as Beachwood Village was completed in March 2012 delivering 201 residential units comprising 118 private sales, 75 rented and 8 shared ownership.

Planning for the next section of Phase 1 was achieved in the May 2013 with minor modifications to accommodate increased carriage way widths and plot layouts this process gaining overall approval in October 2013.
